Sorry I missed your post, Linda... My suggestion would be to remove each drawer, check CAREFULLY, under a strong light, all sides of each drawer, to see what you might have. Also check the INSIDE of the empty chest too. If you can, leave it dismantled and check it every few days to see any changes.

How long does it take these "shavings" to accumulate? And finally, where are you? (City, state)
