John, my favorite ant get-rid-of-helper,
We had a really good spring/summer in 2014 with no pavement ants in the basement at all. Now for some reason (I live in a multilevel house) I am finding one here and there in the upstairs computer room, in the bedroom, in the upstairs bathroom, in the front hall one level down - and none so far on the first level (half underground) or in the basement at all and the basement is the place I always found them towards spring (except for 2014).
Hubby just had surgery and needs more surgery so I do not want to get the exterminator for inside at this point as he is not doing that well. Is there anything I can do to discourage them as I do not know where they are coming from. I did hear that part white vinegar in water sprayed on them will burn their bums and just let them go and they will return to Mama and tell her it is not a good place to visit. Old wives tale or what??
I am in Massachusetts and the snow is piled high outside and temps have been way below normal. We will probably have 6 feet of snow around until April unless we get a heat wave. Tried to get as much snow away from the house as possible but there is just so much I can do at age 77.
Any advice for a non toxic deterrent for now would be greatly appreciated. I have enough to worry about and take care of with hubby without having ants crawling around too. Never saw them where they are showing up before either. Strange!
Thank you for any help/suggestions.
