well - took the baseboard off vacuum at the ready and....eeekk guess what - I saw one ant about 1/4 inch long. yep - one!.. and a little more sawdust... gave everything a thorough vacuum all the same.

Again, John, do you think I scared them to a different area with the RAID and the commotion last night with the vacuuming and it is just a matter of time until we have the buggers wandering the living room? Or did they decide - this house isn't a good home after all and they jumped ship?

Left the baseboard off and playing the waiting game now...

Do you suggest I stay away from any baits, traps, and pesticide approaches for now? I cannot see any obvious ways the ants would have been entering...but would like to avoid this from happening again, or at any other parts of the house if at all possible... Then again, if they have moved on, the last thing I want to do is set out a bunch of yummy ant food (poison or not) and attract the rest of the neighborhood to join the party.

I am quite confident these were not carpenter ants - apart form the small amounts of dust type of residue, no other evidence, and all ants I have seen so far were less than half of an inch - most about a quarter of an inch.
Thanks again...

breathing better now - even without the brown bag! lol

next? should I look into the outdoor treatment to keep them out?
