Hi John,

I've got an update on our situation, plus another question, hope that is ok! As you suggested, we had a company come and spray outside around the perimeter of our house. They also put little bait stations around inside the house, on both the basement and the main floor. I called around to a lot of companies looking for ones that did not also insist on doing an indoor spray, and I found a number in that camp, but they all recommended using baiting indoors in conjunction with the perimeter spray. So we went with that.

We had this done last Wednesday and then on Thursday we left for a week's vacation. We came back late last night and found that there were much fewer dead ants in the basement than there had been before the spray was done. We were pretty happy, until a few minutes late we noticed around a dozen ants in our kitchen (upstairs), which is a location where we had never seen any ants before!!

We were told that it can take several weeks after spraying for the ants to completely go away, so it may be that this is just normal. But I'm a little worried about seeing them in a brand new location. Do you think I should be worried? Could they have started a new nest? Or are they just being attracted by the baits (there are a few of these in the kitchen)?

Thanks for your advice!

Leanne
