Basement is finished. There is wood paneling on the walls. The basement is carpeted. One corner room is lined with cedar press board, walls and ceiling, to create a closet room. Ants do not seem to prefer the room. There is no insulation in the ceiling except for the box header squares. It is a suspended ceiling.

It seems they are coming in near the floor, perhaps at the bottom of the wood panels. I have hot water radiant pipes and shielding blocking my view of the floor-wall gaps.

The house is built into a slope and the backside can get soaked when it rains, but it seems the water is channeled around the house well. However, they seem to be coming in the southern facing front side, where it should not as moist. Perhaps it is too wet for their tastes in the back.

Thank you for your comments.
