No, moisture isn't the ONLY thing... Perhaps you could start off with a perimeter treatment with Termidor. You can also treat the tree with the nest, although all trees have ants, and they will come back to the tree.

Might also stave off your inside problem too. It's not a big deal and you should pay a lot less that $200.
