Hmmmm. I assume the drywall is butt-up against the foamboard, right?

If so, I think the ant bait might be the one to try, besides, it's cheaper. Always go the cheapest way first.

The Advion ant bait comes in a pack of 4 syringes, which you might be able to drill a few holes and inject some. Cover the holes with a removable tape, you might have to do this more than once. Drill small holes, they will be easy to fix. Keep baiting until you don't experience any more activity

You might also leave the tape up for awhile (several months) to make sure all activity has ceased. Maybe use white tape (or the color of the ceiling, so it isn't as noticeable, or maybe paint over it. Whatever you think.
