John,
I don't know if these carpenter ants are very particular or what, but I have not witnessed any of them go for any of the bait I have put down so far. I know my Maxforce FC pucks were old so I got a fresh shipment and replaced the ones I was using with the new ones (strangely - now that the company has Bayer's name on it, the package no longer lists Carpenter Ants even though it appears to be the same formulation). I also bought the Maxforce Carpenter Ant gel and put some dabs of that around as well in case the ants are in the sweet tooth mood as opposed to protein mood. I also put down some Advance granules on a piece of cardboard in the Den. These ants do not appear to go for ANY of these things unless they are doing it super late at night when I am asleep. I am finding more and more ants on the den floor just completely not moving. If I shine my flashlight on them some of them will move their legs slightly in reaction to the light. This morning I see one ant moving around normally but it is going everywhere except for the bait. I am wondering what the heck it is looking for if not food etc. I heard someone say to try adding a dab of peanut butter if they are not going for the bait. Should I try that? I know you say not to fret and I get that but if I have any company over this is not very appealing to have ants all over the floor. Also, do you recommend I vacuum up the imobile ones? My guess is those are dying or dead anyway and won't be going for any of the bait? Thanks again!
