Ants are picky eaters at best, baits are usually my last resort. When it works, I'm always mildly surprised...
Termidor? Sure, that's the 'shotgun' method, and it usually works. But it really sounds more like a seasonal problem, they come in from everywhere.
How you use Termidor depends on the label and on where and what you treat for on your property. The exterminator has ways to deal with tight quarters, and Termidor is not repellent, so the ants contact and move it during their travels. In fact, by over-treating you can fail to get your treated individuals back to the colony to do their job! Meaning you used too much and will continue to see the ants.
A dozen a day, even for a few days, are not too many. When you see MORE of them, in the same places, all the time, winter summer, you have a problem. But it isn't the Termidor you look to, it's the reason WHY they are there.
Ok, now sit down, with a paper bag, breathe into it a few times, you'll feel much better... :)
