I replaced a rotted board in my front porch a few weeks ago, which I discovered was home to carpenter ants. While patching another smallish section, I found what I believe to be a new queen setting up a satellite colony. I killed that one. I tried to check for other moisture damage, can't see anything. I've killed about 24 new winged queens (I think they are) - can't seem to stop killing the large winged ones. Since disrupting their home, I've seen about 3-4 ants in the house. I've put out some supposedly slow acting baits on the front deck, but the ants just seem to feast on it, and not take it back to share. They are not forming any kind of "trail" to follow. I've tried to check for any cracks into the house, and have sprinkled diatomaceous earth at the front door. Anything else I should be doing to find any remaining colony?
