Just found your information site and message board - this is great!
We suddenly started seeing carpenter ants in our house more than a month ago, in early August - at first only one or two a day - growing to perhaps 20 a day or so. Most activity was on back wall of house - we have woods behind our house. The weather was warm and sunny.
I searched around the house for concentrated ant activity and could find none - just occasional, seemingly wandering ants.
Now, after a week of colder weather (low 70's days - 50's and colder nights) the ants have disappeared.
We were scheduled for an exterminator tomorrow - I just cancelled after reading the information found on your website.
Should we just wait til spring for further action? We have cleaned out gutters and cleaned out vegetation from foundation, although there is still some leaf litter, particularly under decks.
Thanks for any input!
