Sorry, Liz, been out for a few days... Those winged ants are just reproductives - boys and girls, so to speak, and harmless. They will go away on their own, no need to be concerned.

The "rotten" wood is to blame. Replace it and that's really all you need to do, no need for "treatment" in this case.
