I have an apple tree that is right next to the house (about 10ft away) there are a bunch of holes on 3 different branches of the tree that were improperly cut and are now dead and rotting. This tree is a mess lots of dead main branches.

I want to take the tree down. My concern is when is the best time to do this (winter or spring) as I don't want to shake the ants out of tree and have them go after my home or other wooden objects around the area. What is the best course of action and time to do it ?
