The ants at the septic tank are probably just taking advantage of the soil that was disturbed. Sod (or seed) it, that will certainly help, in other ways too. You could also use a granular insecticide (ants on the label) and broadcast the area with it, check the label on how much to use. Get the granular at the garden store and don't buy more than you need, it does have ashelf life.
Frankly, I would wait and watch before you waste money on inscticides, the problem may resolve itself where you may need less (or none) of any insecticide.
Wait a couple of weeks, you can do this anytime, and they really aren't hurtng anything.
