Ok, Deanna, since you have just brought me into "your life," I'll add to that crowd of voices you are hearing from... REPLACE THAT DOOR! And the door frame. Best to get is a STEEL door, I can't believe you'll spend more than $250 or so. And you'll (I'll bet) spend MORE than that on any exterminator, and if he's an HONEST exterminator, he'll tell you the same thing - over the phone. I would. If you told me exactly what you said above, I would tell you to get that steel door and give you the names of a couple of HONEST carpenters that would be glad to do the job.
So CANCEL the CA stuff you ordered, (or return it) and put your money towards the "Steel Door Fund!" No exterminator (or exterminator stuff) needed! In the meantime, just zip up any ants you see with your trusty vacuum, no bug stuff.
P.S. Steel doors aren't actually made of all steel. It's like a "steel sandwich" - Steel panels on the outside, with a foam and wooden frame inside. Advantages, of course, are that it's weather-proof, it won't warp, affecting the fit, and it's definitely more secure. I can't believe that any builder wouldn't use steel outside doors in this day and age, and ESPECIALLY where you're located!
(Do I sound like a door salesman? lol)
