The SC is good, forget the foam and no trenching. Just a topical spray. And yes, you can spot treat anywhere you see the ants trail. One foot is good, but use that as a guide, you can easily double the distance from the windows and foundation. Fence posts ok too.

One thing you DON'T do is double up on the chemical. You want this stuff to kill SLOWLY, so they get it back to the colony without dying. Look for results in about one or two weeks, NO FASTER! If the nest is big, or the treatment area wide, it may take 3 weeks.

Don't use that sprayer for anything else, no weeds or inside pest control products either. I use separate sprayers, one for Termidor, one for weeds and one for inside bugs. My sprayers are expensive, about $280 each, but you can pick up a pretty good one at Wal-Mart for about $15.
