Late last night, I heard small scratching sounds on my sliding glass doors. Didn't pay too much attention at first because we hang out at the kitchen table and outside bugs are hanging on the door waiting for the opportunity to come in. Later I saw several large red ants with wings crawling on the glass door but didn't think they could be making that noise. Early this morning while letting my dog out the slider, there were hundreds and hundreds of these critters all over my deck steps, piles of them on either sides of the steps. After returning home this afternoon, Some appear to be dead, some still crawling around. are these Carpender ants and if so, is it unusual for this insect to swarm your house in few hours? Never seen them before. Do I use spray Raid to make sure they're all dead and then vacuum? I sure do appreciate any wisdom and advice that you can give me. Thank you so much.
