Hi John - I wanted to report back to you that I had the company out last Tuesday to treat for the ants. You'll recall we had them mostly around the garden window area of our kitchen with some venturing on down to the countertop and sink. Then I noticed a ton of them going up and down both sides of my outside wood deck steps and decided to have out the company I'd had before. When they got here, I told them it had been fairly quiet in the kitchen area with just one or two here and there but that outside they were going crazy. So the technician recommended just a little spraying on the inside for now around the window area. He then did a Termidor spraying around the outside of the house. It wasn't the type of indepth Termidor treatment that was done several years ago when we had a minor infestation of termites - that's the best way I can explain it. They said to give it 10-14 days and call back if they weren't gone. For now we're still seeing them at the kitchen window with some again venturing down on the countertop. (Did I mention that I hate ants??) In the beginning we saw some dead ones on the window sill in the kitchen but the ones we've seen the last couple of days seem more active to me. Last night we probably saw about 10-15 of them over the course of an hour or so. Oddly enough, Saturday morning I saw one that was a little larger on the window and it had wings. Weird - was that maybe the queen? Anyway, I didn't stop to question her - I killed her. So just wanted to fill you in on what's going on. Tomorrow will only be one week and since they said to give it 10-14 days I won't call them back (if need be) until then. By the way I did have a contractor out a week or so ago to give me an estimate on any "seals" that needed to be fixed outside and he told me he thought the garden window looked fine. Thanks so much for all your great advice!
