Hmmmm. Did you have water problems from the roof or the gutters before the roof repair? If so, those ants might be the result of that... Next time it rains, get out there, with an umbrella and see how your rain handling systems work. Just stand there and watch. If your gutters overflow, what happens to the water, where does it go?
The ants (could be any kind, BTW) are in virtually every house - you just don't SEE them. Most of the time you never see them, it's just when some construction anomaly (either or both) allows them to take advantage of that.
It's hard to say there is something you should do about it, certainly if you investigate and find one or all of those problems. If you were to take action now, I would advise a perimeter treatment with Termidor. It's a once-per-season treatment (usually) and unless your home is some kind of castle, should be $200 or less. You don't need a "contract."
