Carpet ants? Not sure what you mean by "carpet ants," so I'm not sure as to how I can advise you... Do you mean "carpenter ants?" Large, usually large and black, (although they can be smaller and red) wandering around?

If so, and there's only a few (dozen or so) they may just be "wanderers" and can go away on their own. Give it a couple of weeks to see, without haunting the Home Depot insecticide isle...

Let me know where you got the term "carpet ants."
