Thanks for this incredibly detailed and thorough website. From doing ant research for my april thru november carpenter ant kitchen guests, I have learned that any ants that don't come home to the nest are "counted" as missing and thereby replaced by an uptick in reproduction rates. Therefore, I'm wondering how effective vacuuming up the citronella ants is. I have a recurring citronella ant swarm...last one was a few years ago, but it's only January and the first swarm appeared New Year's Day--it was not warm--and then they disappeared but have been reappearing every few days. Sometimes they just hang out on the floor; sometimes they start to climb up walls, curtains, etc. We have a whole-house dehumidifier showing only 33% humidity after a large-scale foundation drainage repair and a house pasteurization of the downstairs (where the ants are coming out). I have vacuumed them up some days and not on other days. Is it time to call the exterminator or could I caulk up my floorboards and doorjambs? Thanks!
