The basement is unfinished except for the ceiling, which has been drywalled. There is fiberglass insulation between the drywall and the floor above.
The house is new, except for the foundation, the floor joists, and main beams. They would have been inspected by the town and the contractor before rebuilding the house. I am sure there are several areas along the foundation perimeter that provide excellent access for ants. My hope is that the CA's are coming from the outside.
I do plan to have the rim joist insulated soon as it was never done. The contractor has to remove some of the ceiling to do this. Perhaps for a few dollars more, he can remove the entire ceiling so that I have access to my plumbing and electrical and a clear view of any insect activity.
By the way, I only saw one little guy roaming about today.
