It's always best to have services available in a basement if you don't have or need a basement ceiling... Never can tell when you'll need to get to something. My daughter ripped out her basement ceiling when she moved into her recent house. Within a month she had to have the plumber in. And she will soon be running a gas line outside for her proposed fancy-type grill.

As far as the ants are concerned, you might have had those few wanderers, keep watch. You might put a couple of glueboards on the window sills to see what's been wandering by. Write the date on them so you'll know long the glueboards have been on there. (You'll forget!)

Good luck!
