Just a follow-up from the past two months. I had a new slab poured in a crawlspace and in my basement. The crawlspace got a pre-treatment of Termidor. A local pest control guy will be trenching the outside of my house later this summer and treating the area with Termidor as well.
Back to ants... Today, I noticed lots of dead, winged ants on the inside window sill area of one of my basement windows. The window receives lots of sun and it's been hot and humid here. I provided a picture.
You can see some of the dead ants in the pic, along with a fat and well-fed spider at the top. There are some tiny, live ants foraging in the stone dust. I did see one of the ants push some of the stone out from a small tunnel in the wood surrounding the window. The window is new. The foundation is stone. The wood between the foundation and is old. Nothing is covering the exterior side of the window and wood surround. The area is otherwise dry.
