Thanks for the response John. I looked online trying to identify these ants and found that the pictures of a field ant resemble them. But I also found pictures of carpenter ants that look like them. So, I don't know.
I put Terro baits out for them in the room. I sat one on the window sill and it's littered with dead bodies. Lol To spray around the outside I normally use an Ortho or similar product for general use. I can see how using something like that might actually trap insects in the home as you mention. There is a Do-It-Yourself Pest Control near me that I may visit to see what they recommend.
I don't see any obvious signs of dampness anywhere but I'm going to remove the trim under the sill and maybe some siding around the window to see what I can see.
