NO BAITS! Not yet. And no other insecticides during the next 10-14 days, until you know what's going on. I do understand your phobia. After all, I am married...
The ants are HARMLESS. Got that? HARMLESS. Keep that in mind while you're "observing." Besides, that's the wrong bait. Ants are very picky about what they eat. Sometimes the time of year makes them do different things.
The owner of the condo has no say in the matter. It's the LEASE that is the defining structure. Check it CLOSELY. And even if it says one thing, if you're having MULTIPLE problems, you aren't expected to shoulder multiple infestations. And OF COURSE, she says she 'never had a problem,' you surely wouldn't expect her to admit she (or other tenants) have had problems lol.
Also, depending on where you live, your local or state health depts can often goad reluctant owners to fix the problem.
Now, before you use baits, WAIT! And then get baits that contain the AI (Active Ingredient) of Fipronil. The more Fipronil, the better. Check the AI on each you examine, and get the highest concentration.
BTW, where are you? (City, state) So I can recommend other baits, etc.
