I was waking up with red welts and didn't know what they were. The intense itching was like something I never experienced. A dermatologist looked at me and said they were bug bites indicative by three parallel bites (typical for bed bugs): breakfast/lunch & dinner. After understanding the gravity of the problem, I threw out my entire waterbed frame as well as the mattresses. When I was disassembling the bed I spotted a bug I treated the wall baseboards with bait powder and across the doorway to stop possible spreading to other rooms. These bugs like to sleep where they eat and will gravitate towards body heat to find their next meal. if they lay eggs, there can be approx. two week interval before they hatch so just because you dont get bit again doesn't mean you're bug free yet. I slept in a different room but frequently became paranoid when I thought I felt something crawling on me. We got lucky to discern the problem before it got out of hand. My neighbor's daughter saw my bedframe on the curb and asked me if she could have it. I told her absolutely not. It cost me $200 for self extermination chemicals plus the added cost of a new bed frame, mattress and boxspring. Special thanks to the girl I spent an intimate moment with before bringing home an unknown hitchhiker.
