Well, they can survive about 6-9 months without a blood meal, so, technically, you would have to wait that long until you REALLY knew... (Usually less than that - I never had one that was that late - I figured 3-4 months without any sightings or bites.)
If they were another bunch, I think you'd see them (or the bites) pretty quick - within a couple of weeks.
If you have any white sheets for your bed, use those for awhile. You can see the bedbugs (and bloodspots) much better. Look CLOSELY at your sheets and pillowcases, use HOT soapy water to launder your sheets. Check them every day. If you were bitten by bedbugs, look for the bites too. (Some people aren't bitten by bedbugs for whatever reason.)
