Last year we noticed several wasps, usually returning home towards the end of the afternoon and, from watching them, it seem that they were just going up under the siding of the house. Never had a problem with any of them inside our home, thank heavens. However over the past fews days, they have totally taken over our yard !! We don't seem to see them migrating towards the house - just flying around the yard in staggering numbers. I don't know where they're coming from and I don't know where they go. All I know is that they are everywhere. We have to wear high top sneakers (forget the bare feet and the flip flops) because there's so many of them. Don't know if it helps you to know this but we live in Atlantic Canada, and have had a very humid and rainy summer. It's now mid-September. I don't know where these guys came from so I just don't know how to locate the nest. Add to the fact that I'm allergic to bee stings so I'm obviously not going to go looking very far! We have a lot of wooded area around our home - but again nothing's changed since last summer that we can tell. I'm hesitant about spraying the yard with anything because we've got some cute little salamanders and there are squirrels back in the woods. I'd like to leave nature well enough alone - provided it doesn't kill me first !! Any suggestions as to why (please God why!) these yellow brats are invading us all of a sudden ????? (don't worry, no food stuffs or any garbage that would attract them). Any ideas? Sincerely, Karen "Going Buggy" R. Thanks (PS I still have my carpenter ants that I wrote you about last spring but thanks to your advice, my neurosis level has decreased somewhat).
