I've solved this issue twice - had to when I got home after dark. I used a long pole and used it to tip the trap on its side. Then I used the pole to move the lock bars out of the way. A broom stick might be long enough, but I had a painter's extension pole available to me. It also depends on your angle of access. Got anything to hook onto a side or something?
