John,
Posted and spoke to you Monday when I purchased two 1040's.
They came Wednesday, thank you. When the noises started 2 1/2 weeks ago in my basement drop ceiling, I put a 1030 in the drop ceiling and a 1030 outside at the entrance hole (about 4 feet away, on flat ground). I saw squirrels in the unfinished basement, just on the other side of the wall with the drop ceiling, traveling to their hole in the foundation. I got 3 sqirrels in 2 days out side. When I saw with my own eyes the squirrels triping the 1030 and escaping, I purchased the 1040's. I've checked the one in the drop ceiling every day... nothing, not triped. On tuesday morning, I had a rat in the outside trap. I was surprised because we have never seen a rat anywhere around here. Wednesday night the trap in the ceiling triped, a F*#&%@g RAT!! John, rats AND squirrels?? I've done a complete investigation around the exterior foundation and have only found the 2 holes the squirrels dug to get under the lattice to my deck and make their way to the foundation. These are not rat burrows. That's why I got 2 1040's, thinking I would put 1 at each hole at the lattice. The only noise and/or activity is in the basement/drop ceiling. My neighbor (about 50 feet from my deck) has bird feeders, which is the only food source I can find. The feeders are 5 feet off the ground. Can the rats come in the same hole as the squirrels? Did I invite the rats with all the peanut butter in the traps? My next step is to take up the deck boards starting against the house and see what's happening under there. Help... What next?
