John, I've done some investigating and found my dog's food(1/4 inch round balls) in a certain spot in the basement on the floor around the chimmney near the boiler, along with a ton of dropings. I also found in the drop celing what appears to be their "tunnell" through the insulation up into the floor where they can get in my kitchen under the stove. The dog dish along with their water is 3 feet from the stove. It's there 24/7. I've been checking the dog dish for the last 2 weeks and have NEVER seen even 1 dropping near the dog dish. There is a ton of droppings in the drop ceiling, mostly near the spot where they go up to the kitchen and where they go over the wall to the chimmney area, and around the ressesed light cans(I assume for warmth). Very few droppings along the walls in the ceiling where you would expect to see droppings. I cover the holes outside at the lattice with leaves every day. They are still going in and out. If they have food and water in the house from the dog, would they still go out side at night? Snap traps or glue traps, or both? Where to put them considering they are not traveling along the walls? John, they would take the dog food and "store it"? There are about 30-40 pcs of dog food in the basement, all in that one area. They have to go under the stove, thru the floor, into the drop ceiling. 6 feet accross the ceiling, over the finished wall, and down to the floor where I found the dog food along with their droppings. The dog food is intact. I have 1 snap trap with peanut butter in the ceiling, been there 3 days, not touched. I took deck boards off to get to the exterior hole and put a snap trap by it. 1 morning it was snaped and licked clean, today it was not snapped and licked clean. I'm sure I have mice also. (I've seen droppings). Remember I first contacted you with squirrels in the drop ceiling. I saw them. Did the rats scare them out of the house? The rats are comming in the same place the squirrels were. What do you think?
