John - sorry for length but had to explain.
I used Drax protein ant bait quite a while ago and all the pavement ants disappeared plus I had professional asbestos removal a couple of weeks ago and the day before yesterday I smelled something that I thought was the sump pump/sewer pipe pit. Yesterday the smell was terrible and I thought maybe I had a broken sewer pipe somewhere as the pit itself wasn't smelling. I started moving things as I had called the plumber and when I took away my air purifier that had been on all along I saw a dead mouse behind it - blowing the smell all over the basement. I disposed of the mouse and put out 2 snap traps with peanuts just in case there was another one and this morning found a million pavement ants going back and forth on the one mouse trap. The other one was near where I found the mouse and the ants hadn't gotten to that side of the room as yet and no mouse in the trap. I took away the mouse traps and sprayed Clorox Clean Up all over the crowd of ants and trail and now do not know what to do. Is there anything I can put out to see if there are any more mice without the ants attracted to it? Is there anything I can put out for the ants that the mice won't be attracted to as I know ant bait won't kill a mouse and I don't want to call a mouse colony in for the delicious ant bait. HELP Please. I had a CTscan and I may have a tumor in the sinuses and have to go for more testing and biopsy and don't know if an exterminator is the answer right now. I don't even know if there are any more mice as last Saturday the guys that did the asbestos tile removal are rebuilding the paneling they broke and had the door on that 1st floor level open all day with the basement door open (it is really part of the basement - 3 cement steps up and cement floor, half underground in back and level with driveway in front. He could have come in then but I just do not know.
Thank you for your help as I am quite out of it right now and having trouble coping with anything.
