Is this a "mouse tale"

John

My neighbor just told me that the fleas, mites and ticks that are on mice carry more disease than the mouse itself and when dead they will latch on to the nearest warm body. Is this true? Since I don't know how long or why it died --- only that is smelled really bad did the fleas, mites, etc. die off too or are they still in the basement. I have been down there every day doing laundry, etc. and do not seem to have any strange bites so far.

Thanks. If they are around how do I get rid of them? or should I just ignore my always informative neighbor.....you know the one who knows everything about everything.
