Set up your traps next to the wall - a dozen or more is not too many. Go through my mouse page (above) it shows you how to place traps and handle your mouse problem.

I don't think you need to "sanitize" the toys, the mice aren't interested in toys unless they're food! If you just want to do it anyway, hot, soapy water is fine.

Put a couple of traps in out-of-the-way places in some of the other rooms, use them as "detectors." Glueboards work pretty good too.

Then, check how they might have gotten in, if you have an attached garage, don't keep trash, (food refuse) bird or grass seed in the garage. And don't feed the birds!
