For bait, you have a choice. I have used: wet cat food, sardines and slightly spoiled hamburger meat. Sardines are pretty stinky, they usually go for that. The spoiled hamburger eliminates the cats, usually, but it may attract skunks. If you think you have a skunk entering your trap (you'll smell him) keep trapping anyway, just cover the trap before you let him go and he won't spray. The same one won't enter the trap again - at least not soon enough for you to get Rocky....
