Wow. You're on the ball... Sounds like you're doing all the right things! To answer your questions:

1) Well, I think you can pick up the traps, etc on the other levels, but the basement you could always leave a glueboard down in a hidden area, it works as a "detector." Check it every once in awhile.

2) Probably all of the above. The mice outside are curious, so if they find a way in, you have this problem.

3) You'd be amazed at what they can find to eat. But it's likely you got them all - at least for now...
