LOLOL - OK I know I'm clutching at straws. And I'm sure it's difficult to visualize anyway. Just think of "The Secret Garden" type of thing, a red brick garden wall with a wooden door in it. The top of the wall is level with our roof at one end and the ground at the other (due to a steeply rising bank). All I was saying was if I remove the door and any wall above it, the mice won't be able to get across to the roof. But now we have a big gap in our wall and no way of closing off access to the rear of our property.
Having said that I suppose I could electrify the top of the wall, but that could get me into all sorts of trouble with the authorities. Or how about I build in one of those rotating drums you see on Japanese game shows so any mouse stepping on it will fall into a shoot which carries it away to certain doom?
But wait, I'm an idiot. I just realized a cast iron gate would do just as well. I knew I'd find the answer by coming on here. John, thanks a million for letting me spout on there until it came to me. You're an absolute genius!!!
