Often they're called "digger bees" - and while they CAN sting, I've never known anyone that has been stung by one. I waded through a lawn with THOUSANDS of these little guys last week, spraying them, they were all around me, you wouldn't believe it. And, no, I didn't get stung.

They do go away in a month or two, but they will be back next year - usually WORSE, until you do something about it. They will tear up your lawn and they often pick on "sparse" lawns.

Check with your exterminator on a price to handle the job - I usually charge about $125-$150, depending on the size of the treated areas. It takes a power spray, a little sprayer you carry around won't hack it.
