Hello.
Last night I was reading in bed. After I turned off the light and just about fell asleep fully, I was roused by swishing sound above my head. When I put on light saw it was a bat.
I live in the northern Jersey woods and we have bats out back every night. Additionally, the screen doors are sometimes left open for whatever reason, so I was not too suprised to see the invader.
I opened the door and window, exited the room and the bat flew out. In hindsight I worry now that maybe I should have had it captured and tested for rabies.
I do not see any bites on me and as I was not fully asleep, I do believe I would have felt it land on me or if I got bit. But I guess I am just paranoid after that young kid died when the bat was flying aorund his room and he does not remember getting bit.
So, I realize chances of getting raboes from what was probably just a lost bat, and one who I don't believe came anywhere near me, is very slight. But any reassuring words?
