Small burrows along foundation

Last year I noticed a small hole in the dirt next to the driveway. I noticed a chipmunk using it and didn't think too much about it.

This year I recently discovered a couple new holes dug into the dirt along the foundation of the house. The holes have about the same diameter of the burrow by the driveway, but I haven't specifically seen these being used by chipmunks.

We have a lot of chipmunks around here, but the possibility exists that it might be something (anything) else -- rats, for instance, although I've never seen any.

I have a couple 1030 and 1040 traps leftover from my attic squirrel experience. I was thinking of setting one along the foundation and seeing what I come up with. Is there a bait that would appeal equally to chipmunks and rats? Would the 1030 or 1040 hold them if it traps them -- can they get through the wire sides?

Do you have any other advice or thoughts?

Thanks.
