It has been an extremely wet summer here in MA and on the cool side - now in the 80's and still wet. Over the last few days I have found these funny looking "worms" upstairs, downstairs, anywhere - bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, by front door, etc. and don't know what they are. They are hard to crush - you really have to squeeze hard like they have a shell and I think they have legs but now I am not sure. They are browny in color and I do not see any pincers. They are about 1 1/2 inches long and are creeping me out since I found the one in the bedroom. I know centipedes sqwish really easy so it isn't that and I tried to see what a millipede looked like but did not exactly match these things. Do millipedes have tough shells that are hard to sqwish? Anyway, do I have to worry? So far I have found about 6 over the last few days all in different areas of the house. (Allergic to pesticides).
Thanks for your help. Don't have a camera. Could I send you the next one I find for identification? What would I do - freeze it or just sqwish it....it looks the same sqwished except inards come out.
