Had hundreds of galleries in my log home and now am free of them!! Depends on your type of home. I found out to stick the straw with WD-40 up the hole and let it run in and it goes through all the galleries until it runs back out the hole. This is time consuming but it works. All the bees come out coated and will die. The eggs are coated too and won't hatch. Then stuff those holes with packed tightly aluminum foil. Don't use wood as they eat back through it. Believe me I did it all backwards. After you do this then caulk over the holes and I applied Woodguard to my log home. You can use marine paint if you can get it still over the hole if you want to paint instead of stain. The trick is that they come back every year to the nesting place, and you must break the cycle. You still need to treat all the holes each time they make more and don't let it get too far ahead of you. I barely even see one of these anymore and I'm not kidding my house was infested. Pileated woodpeckers were taking out huge chunks of my logs. Now I have no activity at all. Write me off list if you need more information. IT WORKS!!! Kathy
