A couple weeks ago I heard the unwelcome sound of scurrying up in the attic so I bought some snap traps. The first night I caught a mouse. A few days later I caught another one. That was about a week ago. I know that there is at least one more up there because something is licking the traps clean of peanut butter, but not setting them off.

Yesterday I tried baiting with a tiny bit of deli meat under the peanut butter thinking that the mouse would have to tug on the chicken on the bait pan to get it and snap the trap. However, it ate the meat and the peanut butter and the trap remains set. Right now I have three traps set up there that have been cleaned out.

How do I catch a careful mouse? I really don't want to use glue traps because I want the mouse to be killed quickly.
