And if it's away from people you could just leave it there and take it down when the hornets leave in the fall. They ARE beneficial creatures, BTW....

Years ago, when my kids were little and playing in the sand box, there was one just above their heads all summer long. It never bothered them. I never knew it until the winter came and I could see it because there were no more leaves on the tree. The nest was the size of a basketball - never bothered them.

So, if it's not really within your private space, leave it up and let it be a science lesson! (You'll save $$$ too!)
