The tree was near electric and telephone wires and the current passed through those wires. Fortunately we did not have any damage to our home. We never smelled a dead animal in the house or basement, we rarely have a fly in the house or basement and we have never heard any noise in the walls. We are hoping that any remaining maggots were also fried during the event. How do we prevent this type of infestation from happening again. The thought of the flies in the walls is making our skin crawl and we don't want to rely on another lightning strike to rid us of this type of silent infestation again.
