Ken from NJ here. Hope all is well!
This year I made the decision to let my lawn go dormant as I remember reading it is best to do so unless you water heavily once a week. I had no idea it would be this dry and probably lost most of my front lawn. :c(
Anyways... I have cicada Killer wasps all over my front lawn. I don't recall seeing them in the past in my lawn, probably due to the fact that it was thick and full. Anyways... I am looking at my neighbors lawns, also brown and I don't see them there. Not sure why they picked my lawn.
There must be about 15 to 20 mounds of dirt and they are still flying around strong. I stepped on a few, but that did not dent the numbers, they just keep coming. I see 4 or 5 flying around all the time. Since the numbers are not going down with my stepping on them I am going to stop doing so as they are beginning to take notice of me when I go outside. :c(
What does one do to control these guys? If the wasps disappear anytime soon should I dig up the nests and dispose of the larvea?
Anything else to do?
Thanks,
Ken
