WHICH 'frazzled lady on Heartwood Road?' I have a BUNCH of 'em.... :)

Kinda doubt you have rats, otherwise you would have suspected it before this, by probably seeing them outside.

I'm thinking (maybe) a chipmunk? They do get in sometimes, usually by mistake. Sometimes they'll go out on their own if you leave a door chocked open a few inches. Otherwise, a few glueboards in strategic places often works. They are difficult to trap, so the glueboards, unfortunately, are the way to go.

And you CAN call me, even though the machine says we're not in until Monday, I'll pick up the phone or get back to you if you'll tell me which frazzled person you are! I just checked, I have 17 people on Heartwood! LOL
