Forget the traps, the rats are too smart for those. You might catch a juvenile, but you'll never get them all. Bait is best used in this instance. Push it down anyplace you see their burrows, or where they hide.

Alert your neighbor, they may have originated over there. Make sure you secure your trash so they can't get any.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself (go thru my rat page, see above) then definitely get a pro. Get a trusted, local independent - skip the biggies, or any exterminator that wants to send out a salesman.
