You have to talk to the local person listed on pg 17-18 for your county, NOT the State DNR office.
Looking over this document, they're making it a real pain in the neck to get rid of animals.
On page 11, they give instructions of relocating at least 10 miles away from point of capture, but still in the same county. It also must be done within 24 hours.
They also suggest that if the "animal(s) are persistent offenders or an individual of a species that is
overabundant throughout an entire region, the permittee should destroy, rather than release, the captured animal."
That sounds like squirrels to me.
If you want to kill them, drownings not allowed. Carbon monoxide seems the easiest. Large sack and the exhaust pipe of a car.
They say on page 13 you can dispose of them at a stage two landfill wrapped securely in a plastic bag. A type Two licensed landfill is a standard landfill, according to them.
Sounds like wrapping in a garbage bag and taping them up.
